The short version

Knack shows you how to fix, build, set up and identify things you own. It is guidance from an AI, not professional advice. You are the one holding the tools, so you decide what is safe to attempt.

Using Knack

You may use Knack for your own repairs and for the things you own. Do not use it to break the law, and do not resell or scrape the answers it produces.

You must be 13 or older to use Knack.

What we can and cannot promise

Knack uses AI, and AI gets things wrong. We work hard to be accurate and we check every answer for hazards automatically, but we cannot promise an answer is correct or complete for your exact object.

Never do anything the app suggests if it looks unsafe to you. Stop and get a professional. For gas, mains electricity, structural work, asbestos, vehicle brakes and work at height, Knack will tell you to call a qualified person instead — please take that seriously.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage or injury resulting from work you carry out. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Free answers, subscriptions and packs

Your first few answers are free. After that you can subscribe, or buy a one-off pack of answers that does not expire.

We only charge you when we actually deliver an answer. If something fails, or we tell you the job needs a professional, or we ask you a clarifying question, it costs you nothing.

Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancel through your app store — that is also where refunds are handled, since the store takes the payment, not us.

Your content

The photos and questions you send stay yours. You give us permission to process them to produce your answer, and to keep them so you can revisit your saved guides.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version in the app.
